hi
my dad went for a colonoscopy last Saturday after finding blood in his stools.
They took a biopsy during the procedure and said it was 50/50 whether it was cancer.
on Monday they rang him to say they were sending him for scans, no date for these as yet, and once they get the scan results they will look at the overall picture with the biopsy results but this might take weeks.
is this normal procedure as surely they can give him the biopsy results now?
we are all worried sick and the thought of waiting several more weeks is just awful.
thank you
Hi,
So sorry for whats happening. I know its hard when you are just left waiting without answers.
But yes, this is normal procedure. My mum has to wait weeks sometimes for scan dates and then results.
I know it really sucks waiting but you have to be patient and trust the doctors are doing all they can. Keep chasing them if it'll make you feel better. It won't do any harm to ring their office and check on progress.
Take each day at a time.
Fingers crossed for your dad,
M xx
