Everyone's situation, and circumstance leading them to this group is different. So firstly, would like to say sorry to anyone who is here, and who (like me) is forced to turn to this online community for support.

I won't go into the details of why I'm here.

This post is just for anyone who needs to read some words of comfort.

Yes. We are all in this group because someone we love has/had cancer. But there is one thing cancer can never take away from us and that is our hope. People defy the odds more than known, and we are not limited to statistics. There are new therapies and treatments being created everyday.

I've been living with this for a while, so my advice to anyone who feels they need it!

1) Be open. Communicate with your family, friends or anyone who can provide you with emotional support. You are not alone. So don't ever let yourself feel that way. Reach out on forums like this if you don't feel you have enough support.

2) Stop worrying about the next scan, the next consultation, the next treatment, the next anything. It's natural to have bad days, and unrealistic to think you can do this all the time. But focus on the present moment with your loved one. Let yourself enjoy the little things that are so easy to dismiss when your world is shaken up by cancer. Take each day at a time, and deal with the information the doctors provide you with rather than the 'ifs'.

3) Embrace your emotions. Sometimes it can feel like a rollercoaster. If you have a bad day, let yourself be sad and accept your feelings are normal. Bottling things up can be even harder. Take the time figure out what your happy place is, and what methods help you deal with the lows. It could be, seeing friends or family, writing, going for a walk, anything that makes you happy.

From my experience I have learned that you never truly know what someone is going through. No one should feel alone. If anyone ever needs to, feel free to message me.

Hope this helps at least one person :)
