Body Temperature

Hi all,

I feel like I post here all the time, I do apologise.

My Dad is day 16 after chemo (Carboplatin and Etoposide) and immunotherapy (Atezolizumab). His temperature was a little raised last night, just over 38 degrees but as the morning went on it was coming down. My Mum called the Oncology unit, they were going to get him to go to A&E but they said they would call back in 30 mins. His temperature continued to regulate and come down, we checked it again at 4:30pm and it was 36.2 degrees and has been similar all day. The Oncology unit were happy it was continuing to regulate and said if he seems well in himself, then they were happy for someone to not have to take him to A&E.

Has this happened to anyone before during their treatment and it’s not been a cause for concern for infection? His next treatment session is Tuesday next week.

Thank you

  • Hi again Lucie

Sorry. Looks like I am doing my fair share or responding to forum topics today.

During my treatment which is actually POMB ACE and several EP cycles, I did find my temperature ramped up like a hot flush for a small period of time. Originally I did think it was an infection but have come to realise it was my liver and kidneys working overtime trying to clear out all the chemicals that have been put in.

Continue doing what you're doing with the phone call. It's better to be safe that way.

  • Hi

Thank you for your reply. His temperature was fine all afternoon yesterday, my Mum said he got up this morning and it was 37.1 degrees but he is fine in himself. Maybe it’s possibly what you experienced with liver and kidneys working.

    Thank you

    Lucie
