Hi everyone,
New here!
My father is in a wonderful hospice and has been for 4 weeks now, defying odds as always. We are coming under pressure to find a home for him (with assistance from the NHS palliative care team). Neither dad nor mum want him to move, he has complex needs and is as happy as can be under the circumstances there.
Can he refuse to move under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 or is there another, more effective, strategy to keep him there?
Thank you in advance
Hi Michaeljg
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
With my wife our sole experience with the hospice was when my wife was first diagnosed and we went there and had an interview so I have no real idea from that.
I wonder if you might be able to get some information either from Ask a Nurse or by calling the Macmillan helpline directly on 0808 808 0000 it is open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
<<hugs>>
Steve
