Hello

I’m a new member of the forum and I need some advice

My husband is diagnosed with prostrate cancer, but but we are playing ping-pong between the local GP and doctors in the hospital who will give the next lot of treatment

Has anybody else had this problem and any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.

Sorry to hear about what you are going through, I am not that familiar with prostrate cancer since my wife's cancer is very different but rather more familiar with the feeling of falling through a gap somewhere.

I guess you will have seen our pages on prostrate cancer and you would also be welcome to post in our Prostate cancer forum where there are people with more direct expereince to share.

    <<hugs>>

  • Hi cancerwife62

Does your husband have a cancer nurse specialist, I think he shoukd have and they are often the people to talk to. If not, do you have contact details for eg the consultants secretary.

There will always, sadly, be regional variations, but in my husbands case, it was the consultants and specialists that did everything, the GP only took over where they couldnt do any more for him and he was at end of life care stage.

If this doesnt help, you could try PALS, your hospital shoud have details. ANd if a biggish hospital, they may have a drop in office.

    hope that may help.

  • Hello ,

I'm very sorry you're having problems with who is going to be responsible for delivery of treatment.

If you come onto the Prostate Cancer forum, as suggested, and repost there you're sure to receive plenty of encouragement and advice from what is a large and very active group of people, including many wives of PC sufferers.

I've attached a link to this below and encourage you to visit.

    Derek.
