Hi,
my husband is still in hospital. He developed an infection that required I V antibiotics. He then got flu and was put into a single room, full PPE required for every visit. Doctors say he is clear and medically fit for discharge. The Hospital discharge team are apparently arranging a care package..no one has contacted me to discuss this. We have a care agency in place and we want to continue with them. I can’t track the discharge team down so have asked ward staff to message them.
I had an ECG last week. My GP decided this was necessary for reasons of me under a great deal of stress. The upshot is I have a rapid access appointment with cardiologist. I am feeling much more anxious than usual. I need to be fit and well to look after my husband.
to top the lot I got a parking fine from the hospital car parking firm….i overstayed by 20 minutes on a day a few weeks ago. I appealed but that failed. Life is so rubbish at the moment….I wonder why I bother.
Hi Teatowel
Sorry to hear about what you are going through, hope your cardiology appointment comes through quckly.
In terms of the discharge things I wonder if you have tried contacting the PALS team at the hospital. I have found them very helpful in the past when it seemed other routes of communication were not working.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Thank you src60
I have been in contact with Pals. They contacted the ward to pass on my concerns. Doctors weren’t too happy about it and came to ask me what I was complaining about..the doctor told that the problem is that my husband often gets confused and forgets what they are doing for him. I felt a bit intimidated but played it safe and thanked the guy for his help. It is difficult when the medical staff are dealing with acutely complex patients and my husband is waiting for o others to get him ooff their hands and out of hospital. I do appreciate that but they still need to show care and compassion…he is after all terminally ill and no one knows , other than terminally ill patients, how that feels.
