Hi everyone
Feeling so fed up and sad for my husband he has stage 4 colon rectal cancer with spread to lungs he was diagnosed August 22. He's not currently on any treatment ct scans are stable have been all year but pain is getting worst! He's experiencing pain in his rectum testicles and stomach oncology just keep saying it's referred pain but why is it getting worst? This past week it's unbearable so I phoned the Rapid response phone number they can't help because he's not on treatment told us to go to AandE hubby refused so left it a couple of days pains getting worst phoned 111 this morning sent us to AandE basically said why are we there and that they cant do anything and it's a 11 hour wait! Took some bloods we waited 3 hours and came home as hubby struggles to sit for 2 long. Phone the Macmillan support number got a couple of numbers for derby oncology rang numerous times rings out! Also popped to our local pharmacy and asked for advice what pain relief he could take over the counter as paracetamol not doing anything codeine causes constipation which he is already experiencing and was told today he can't take ibuprofen which we didn't no. Please can someone give me some advice I feel like no one can help us and gate seeing my husband in so much pain I just don't no what to do?
Thanku
Hi. So sorry you are going through this horrid horrid turmoil... I feel the same as you I have nobody to turn to. I reached out via email 2 days ago to my partners macmillan nurse but she is on holiday for now. I find a lot of support in this group though. Sending our hugs. Xxx
Hi GemD84, and welcome, I got myself referred to my hospice and their palliative care team through my GP 15 months ago, and they have been wonderful to me, I've not needed them many times, but when l have, they have been quick to help, if you go for a referral, ask your GP to be referred to the district nurses too, they can provide equipment to make your husband more comfortable, and access specialist nurses, equipment and supplies.

Thankyou so much for your reply it's so hard especially this time of year I always forget about this group but it is very helpful and were all going through similar situations so understand. I'm sorry to here your going through the same thing there should be some one we can reach out to cancer is still here unfortunately
Sending lots of love back to you
Hi there,
so sorry to hear you are struggling to get help. Sadly I am in a similar situation as yourself, and find there is very little support and practical help out there for the people on the the other side of the patient. It’s like we have to go searching for it, at a time when that’s the least of our worries and the very last thing we want to be doing!
I hope you managed to get some help from your GP!
much love xx
