I have hesitated over and over again about writing this.  However, I have decided to post this message because I think that I would have liked to read this when my husband and I first started our 'cancer' journey. He was initially diagnosed with colon cancer, but had a sigmoidoscopy during which they removed the cancerous growth.  This was Nov 2022.  In a follow up scan, which showed that the colon growth had been successfully removed, they then found he had a growth in his right lung, which after a few procedures turned out to be small cell lung cancer [sclc].  This was 14 Feb 2023 [my birthday] when we learned it was lung cancer. After chemo and radiotherapy on the lung cancer - with various problematic side effects from that - we arrived at our oncology specialist follow up meeting last Wednesday.  The growth has stabilised and the brain scans they did showed there was no metastases to the brain - unfortunately a very common follow on from sclc.  Then today [actually yesterday Sun] after another sigmoidoscopy he was told that the colon cancer removal was also all OK.  So within 4 days he has been told that his lung cancer has stabilised and the colon cancer has been removed.  I feel so unbelievably deleriously happy about this.  I just want to tell people on this forum that the medicine/treatment can and does work.  Never give up believing.  I love you all.

  • Hi

Thanks for this good news, it is easy sometimes to concentrate on the news that 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime and less on the people who are cured or at least had their cancer stopped or slowed so much. My wife has Leiomyosarcoma and that has been stable now for over 10 years.

    <<hugs>>
