My husband was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer plus secondary bone cancer 6 months ago. He is having hormone treatment, both tablets (enzalutamide) and injection. He seems to be responding well, but I am so concerned about his drinking. He has around 30-35 units per week, lager and wine. He'll drink 2 cans plus a bottle of wine in an evening. Nobody has mentioned whether it's ok to drink with the meds, and I can't really ask in front of him because it undermines him and anyway he wouldn't like it if I did. He knows how I feel about his drinking but nothing changes, he doesn't see it as a problem. I'm worried this amount of alcohol will be detrimental to his future chances. Can anyone give me some advice please?
That does sound like a very difficult situation to be in, it might be helpful if you asked this question in our Ask a Nurse session and one of the medical professionals will get back to you, or you could ring the helpline for a queicker answer.
