Hi, Anyone dealing with malignant skin tumours? I’m caring for Mum ( palliative stage) and pretty much in the dark as to best dressings and cleaning regime. My impression of the district Nurse team is they as as much in the dark as me and struggle to get appropriate dressings which makes dressing change a challenge. I did approach the hospital Cancer team to ask if I could get some via them, but they diverted me back to Nurse. I’m sticking 4 dressings together to make one. Mum is having some radiation therapy in the hope to shrink tumours ,but the process is causing a lot of odour and I want to help Mum be as comfortable as possible. I’d appreciate some best practice ideas.
Hi Soteria,
Sorry to read about what you are going through, don't know if anyone on the Skin cancer forum might have some experience they could share with you. Otherwise I might consider asking via Ask a Nurse or ringing the helpline.
Did have some experience with dressings after Janice came out after her hysterectomy - along with the delights of having to get collections of clinical waste so feel for you.
<<hugs>>
Steve
