8 weeks ago my wife was told she had stage 4 cancer and chemo was only hope as tumors where to big to operate on. consultant then sent a letter saying with chemo she may be looking at a year to two years.
chemo date was brought forward as markers where climbing so first going from 14000 to 32000 in 3 weeks first chemo went well and apart from being very tired and a bit of sickness she seemed to be ok next lot was planned for Christmas eve.
Then she got a chest infection do chemo wad put back to NYE then the two days before she some how caught covid and ended up in hospital she went down hill fast with pain and has been put on morphine tablets her marker had dropped 7000 but are now very high again reaching 34000.
She's due to have chemo tomorrow 11/1/22.
I know anyone would change but am finding her moods really hard to deal with some of the things she says are really hurtful.
She's a great mum to our children they are only 5 and 6 they no something is happening and we have said mummy's not well am looking into how best to explain to them more.
local hospice is now in contact and i have meetings and phone calls planned this week.
Thanks for reading
Hi
So sorry to hear about your wife; I am sure you realise that the cancer is causing her to behave like this. Often we end up hurting most the ones we love the most but it does not always feel good.
With your children it might help to look through Talking to children and teenagers There are a number of books that can help to guide a conversation to including perhaps The Secret C: Straight Talking About Cancer by Julie Stokes; they might have a copy in your local library.
<<hugs>>
Steve
