What a rollercoaster day. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and we were due to start immunotherapy treatment today as his tumour had shown very expression for the pd-l1 biomarker and we were excited to have something done. Unfortunately his bloods came back with poor liver function and a very elevated ALT enzyme count meaning they cancelled the immunotherapy and he now has a ct scan in one week to determine what to do next. It is so disheartening to have waited weeks for the treatment only for it to fall away at the last minute, we were an hour from driving to the hospital. Anyway, there have been some great days so far but this is probably the worst so far and I thought I'd join and share by frustrations! Deflated, but hoping a good night's sleep will bring some much needed positive perspective on things.
Hi
Sorry to read this, I know how it can feel when that promise gets snatched away. Perhaps the positive is that hopefully they can fix the issues around the blood and then hopefully the treatment can go ahead. The team do tend to be quite cautious - I know in the case of my wife when she was having chemotherapy it managed to cause a lung collapse - that was fixable too but it was an interesting detour in our journey.
<<hugs>>
Steve
