My Dad has had bowl cancer - Kidney cancer and for the past 3 years prostate cancer and bone cancer.
His treatment has all stopped working and its pain management now.. He is 77, Still in his own flat.
All he has is me, i have to try my best at organizing everthing. I do have Macmillan nurses dropping in on him and strathcarron now and again
But it is now and agian once a week if im lucky . I think my dad told them hes a lot better than he is ....
Im at breaking point, I have to still work and run about after my kids ...
I feel like just giving up and i dont know what to do im at breaking point, its so very very hard........
Oh dear… it sounds really hard. I’ve been at that point many times and I had to take a break in order to build up my strength to help again. You are doing too much - kids and work and sole carer for your dad. You need to “put on your own oxygen mask” before you can hep others, as they say on the airplanes. At some point you need to say it’s enough and take some time yourself to recover with out guilt. Keep pushing with the GP and other services… they never seem to fully understand the burden on the carers and yes the patient always seems to rally and look great to the doctors, only for the brunt of it to fall back on the carer. Take cate and try to do something just for yourself.️
