Hello,
At beginning of the year my boyfriend was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine tumours based in his Pancreas and secondary in his Liver which really came out of nowhere and we were both in utter shock! this to say the least really put a spanner in the works and put many things into perspective for us. We were getting married nearer the end of the year and decided as treatment would be clashing with the wedding we would get married a lot sooner with a small number of people around us which really was lovely. Now further into the year my Husbands first line of treatment Lanreotide was ineffective he has recently started PRRT treatment and I am really starting to notice a huge difference in his physical wellbeing almost as if the last months the whole C word has really hit us until now. Over the last few weeks due to his weaken immune system he has been in and out of hospital with Sepsis and the emotions of everything has really starting to take a toll balancing home and work life. i feel like I need to maintain positive and strong for my husband which I continue to do but the reality of everything is chasing up with me.
I do hope this makes sense and I wondered if anyone has any tips and advise on how to balance everything.
Thank you
Becky
Hi Becky and welcome to our club - though sorry to hear about your husband.
What you say makes perfect sense to me, watching a loved one going through chemo is tough and that "positive and strong bit" - wish it was as easy to do as it is to write.
I did a living with less stress course that really helped me. Showed me how to concentrate on the here and now rather than a future I could not control and I managed to imagine far worse than actually happened. The conscious breathing exercises were really good too when something struck out of the blue.
When I got really bad I managed to get signed off work for a bit - my GP has been totally supportive and for that I am really grateful.
<<hugs>>
Steve
