So pleased I found this forum..thought I was being selfish feeling put on and having to organise everything since my husbands thyroid cancer...had it removed and damage to voice due to invasion of growth..all started in Oct 2019..when a tumour was found in his humerus..this turned out to be a secondary..main cancer was thyroid..he has metal rod in arm now to stabilise and allow use as bone was eaten away...now having radio iodine treatment to extend our time together..life seems to be all hospital appointments..medication and trying to hold everything together..it’s so hard so hoping being on line with other carers will help ease the feelings I am experiencing

  • Hi Millikins

you're not being selfish. It's a tough gig being the carer. My own partner was diagnosed last Sept with a brain tumour and within 2 weeks we went from him being a super fit, high flying IT project manager to being a terminal cancer patient who can barely read and can only follow simple instructions. It was a huge amount to take in. It still is a huge amount to take in!

Whatever feelings you're experiencing are normal. There is no right or wrong way to feel. We're emotional beings so we feel what we need to feel. I think over the past 6 or 7 months I've been through every emotion in the book and then some and cried more tears than I thought was humanly possible. But showing those feelings and emotions is a sign of strength and resilience.

You've got this. Hang in there and know that you're not alone. This is a great forum to vent in.

    Love n hugs
