My dad who keeps a lot of his thoughts and feelings to himself has had skin cancer on his ear which was removed then got anal cancer which he got treatment for but then got cancer on his chin and in his mouth, he has had radiotherapy for his mouth and i recently went with him for a follow up appointment with the consultant and he let me go in with him. I asked the consultant if there would be further treatment as i know they can't cure it and it is at stage 4 but he said no. My mother and I believe the anal cancer is back and noticed something to that effect in a letter to him that he had laid around. My worry is because he has lost so much weight as his appetite has been non existent for a long time and even more so with the pain he has in his mouth is that he has give up and wonder if anybody else has been in the same situation. He is also not taking all the medicines and fortisip drinks and is refusing nurse and doctor visits even though it has been offered to him

I have certainly seen people in this position before. Many have ended up with the carer saying that the person with cancer needs to show some self care as otherwise they will end up in either a hospital or a hospice - but that is their choice.
