We've had some problems with ongoing chemotherapy.
The hospital sometimes asks for
sometimes it doesn't. Quite often what she is asked for on the day is not what she was told she'd need in advance. It seems we are suffering breakdowns of communication here, with the people at the hospital not talking to the oncologist.
Has anyone else suffered this, and is there a solution?

Since my wife's treatment was before covid we have never had that issue but there have been times when we have seen pretty much all of the above and worse - especially when it comes to having ct scans or the rest.
Usually things get sorted fairy quickly but it has made our appointments longer as they chase up results and the rest.
Often talking to the oncology nurse can help especially if you know what the oncologist wants but know the tests have not been done in good time - the oncologist themselves probably is almost as frustrated as you.

HI TimeEnough I had issues with the hospital but along slightly different lines. Communication was and still is poor but I believe your first point of contact should be your Clinical Nurse Specialist. She/He should be able to set a clearer expectation for you.
Hope you get some consistency as going through the treatment is tough enough without additional hassle.

Hi there,
we haven’t been asked for any requirements but have people show up at very random times to give my mum a swab for COVID. Luckily she’s always tested negative but we often get the results after the appointment. Definitely ask the nurses what is needed and how they can facilitate this as the burden to ensure protocol is followed should be the last of your worries so you can focus on best care possible
