This may seem like a silly question but I am trying to find out about Macmillan suppport now that my mum is terminal with no more treatment options - she was diagnosed with choangliocarcinoma in May 2019. She has of course had contact with a Macmillan regularly and has had some counselling. She receives a call on a bi weekly basis. I feel she is deteriorating and they did call her today. She told them her ongoing symptoms but I just want to know when the time is right that they possibly send a nurse round to her it is that just not an option with COVID but I find that hard as people need that support . Can I do anything in organising this ? Any help gratefully received
Hi ,
Sorry to hear about your mother and of course the impact that has on you too.
Responsibility for care in the home falls to her GP and the local council and they would normally be the first point of contact with a needs assessment. At some point they will often refer a patient to a local hospice and many hospices provide a care at home service.
This page from the NHS might provide you with some pointers to the processes that might be helpful going forward.
<<hugs>>
Steve
