Hello, I’ve been told to buy my Mum a thermometer for when she starts chemo next week, can anyone recommend a good one that doesn’t cost the earth?
Also, any tips or ideas for anything else she might need?
thank you .
Hi ,
we bought one of the digital ear thermometers, very quick and quite similar to the ones they use in the hospitals. One of the things we considered in the purchase is that they normally use disposable covers and so we went to a Braun, not the cheapest but I figured there might be more continuity in supply going forward.
Depending on the type of chemo it depends how long she might be at the hospital, something to pass the time can be really helpful while she is there. In Oxford the chemo units gives out a card with the contact details of their triage service - 24/7 hotline to help examine any issues, like temperature or sickness that is more than people might expect.
Some people recommend ginger sweets as they find it helps to cope with odd especially metallic tastes.
<<hugs>>
