Hi guys,
Just a short bit about me, 3 years ago my sister lost her partner and dad to her boys in an accident.
Less than a year later she was diagnosed with leukemia.
I didn't work for years, and cared for her and her children with my parents helping too. The hardest years of all of our lives for sure.
She is still recovering, and we are struggling through.
I feel so much for the carers, who sometimes can be forgotten, and I am putting together a book if my poems from the last few years, and some (hopefully) helpful, honest and positive words.
Please feel free to message me privately if you would like further details.
Thank you in advance!
Jen
Hi and welcome to the community, it certainly sounds like your sister has had a very hard time and it was lucky to have you and your parents to help. It is really very common for the carers to struggle and that is one of the reasons we have this group here were carers can share in a safe space.
My story with my wife's cancer can be found if you click on my profile, though perhaps looking I should update it since my son is now 16 and my wife only has a checkup every 9 months (slightly ironic given the original cancer was gynaecological!).
Never did I imagine when I first sought help from the cancer charities that years later I would be volunteering and helping others. Also though all this my wife and I are closer than ever - though with covid of course we are together more than ever!
Wishing you the best with your book.
<<hugs>>
Steve
