Hi I hope you are all well. I'm looking for some advice from other carers who may have experienced similar issues. So I have been back and forth to hospital with my partner who has been having an increase in seizures since finishing radiotherapy 4 weeks ago Mri last week was positive really as showed no tumour growth and that tumour stable but as expected some post radiotherapy swelling so plan has been to increase seizure meds and remain on 6mg of steriods for now. I have been preparing tablets at every dose for my partner but discovered today my partner spitting one of the steriods down the sink and putting half of the seizure tablet dose back in the box. I have tried explaining why the dose etc is important at the moment and risks of cutting down but this is not getting through. I have today ordered a locked medicine cabinet and I guess I will have to keep the key with me I just wondered if anyone else had any other ideas or had experienced this as I appreciate this is not my partners fault it is related to confusion surrounding inflammation and tumour location but obviously concerned.

  • Hi , sorry to hear about what your partner and you are going though. The nearest match I can come to would be with my father who had a number of seizures though it his case it was "natural" rather than anything related to radiotherapy. Like in your case however our dad did have fairly frequent trips back to hospital and that sometimes was challenging but other times could be a little bit of relief too.

Perhaps the only practical advice i could give is to talk to his care team about how they can support you both, while you say you accept it is not your partners fault it feels perhaps to me a little like you are blaming yourself. I am really glad you came here and hope your new system works well but if you find you need some instant support remember our helpline is there for everyone 0800 808 0000.

    <<hugs>>
