Not the best weekend .My husbands symptoms seem heightened since finishing his treatment of Radiotherapy Frid for OC .Much worse than last time where radio therapy didn’t really cause many I’ll effects .Obviously this course must been stronger .We are both exhausted lying down coughing /chock bringing up phlegm and keeping him and I awake most of night .He is exhausted today really low mood feeling listless and not really managing much food at all .Trying to build up calories made ice cream milkshake to cool sore throat but not managing that .Hoping his spirit will improve and positivity as it’s 0 at moment .Im supposed to be returning to work next week after 12wks working from home .hope it doesn’t sound selfish but I’m thinking it’ll be welcome distraction and thinking being able to talk with my work pals will help.Any suggestions on foods to try or pain relief as he is only having effervescent paracetamol for pain any suggestions thanks
Hi Lairdy23 welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear about things are for you and how challenging things seem to be.
Im making assumptions here but is OC for Oesophageal cancer?
Either way when he is not eating or maybe taking much to drink I imagine if he has a sore throat, then I think you need to be in touch with the Radiotherapy Department to see if they can offer any help with this or suggestions. The other thing I wonder is if you can you make contact with hubbys GP they may be able to make some arrangement for stronger pain meds for this time.
I think your last paragraph about being back at work will resonate with many Carers and it is good to be able to get away from things even if it just for a little while so talking with others will be I feel sure, of enormous support for you.
Sending very best wishes your way for now.x
.Thanks I think I’ll see what tom brings and we have leaflet with numbers for Oncology and helpline numbers and also if still very painful I’ll contact GP and I feel that your right going back to work give me a different focus and others to talk to.Thanks sending best wishes your way x
