Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows how I may be able to get My Mum’s questions answered.
She’s been reporting symptoms to a. Inner of health professionals for the last 6 weeks. Despite being at risk of bowel obstruction I’m unable to determine if anyone medical has pursued this line of investigation.
We are now in a devastating place as she was admitted to hospital on Thursday & has been told she has a bowel obstruction and perforation. Surgery is not an option so it’s just palliative care. Despite her getting a call 2 days before her admission to book her in for her next chemo course.
None of this makes sense to her and she is going round and round trying to work out how else she could have got the medical teams to look into this.
ive left messages for all of them but no one calls back - I just don’t know where else to go. It want to try to give her some peace and understanding of her situation
hi ,
sorry to hear about your mum, normally I would suggest talking to her oncology nurse however I can understand how it can be difficult to get hold of them and of course there may well be questions about talking to you without clear guidance from your mum.
When all else fails it may be worth checking if the hospital has a patient advice and liason service (PALS) they can often chase things up to ensure people do not get lost in the system.
<<hugs>>
Steve
