hi. i have been diagnosed with stage 3 oesophageal cancer 6 cm long 4 weeks ago. i have been told by surgeon best option is chemo/radiotherpy then op. the other option is chemo/radio therapy but the sussess rate is lowered. i have see oncology last week and they have told me about a trail for chemo/proton therapy rather than standard chemo/radio therapy then op. Has anybody had this option of proton therapy and is it a better option.  I know it is only a trial and have to apply to be included so there is no guarantee I would be included.  Thinking of best possible option as I also have heart failure. Lucky me !!! Trying to be positive. Still here but am confused and scared at decisions.

  • Hi

It's a good idea to see how others have got on with the same type of treatment as you for oesophageal cancer.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post this in the oesophageal cancer group (link) as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

If you'd like to do this just click on the link I've created which will take you to that group. Once you've joined you can start a new post in the same way as you did here.

Wishing you all the best with whatever you decide to do.
