Hello All

I am a prostate cancer patient, who has undergone RP and salvage radiation.

I have had a biochemical recurrence confirmed by my recent PSMA scan which unfortunately shows a small tumor in my rt iliac lymph node, which was treated with radiation.

So now my onco has commenced ADT, i will be taking degarelix injection and abiraterone acetate oral pills.

I would like to hear expereinces from other prostate cancer patients who may have been prescribed the same meds. I am worried about the quality of life as well as major side effects.

So would like to hear of side effects of above two meds, and how people managed them.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've had a recurrence of your prostate cancer and it's a good idea to speak to others to see how they have managed on the treatment you've been offered.

The online community is divided into different support forums so I'm going to recommend that you join the prostate cancer forum as you'll then connect directly with others who have a similar diagnosis to you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
