I was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer stage 2C, I think they called if. I had my first of 3 inpatient hospital stays last week and my first outpatient appointment is tomorrow.

I don’t entirely understand the different kinds of chemo but took a photograph of a booklet I was given when I initially got diagnosed. On Monday this week I noticed a distinct ringing in my left ear, I had had very mild tinnitus since I was 15/16 and lived with it but this has really disrupted my past few nights of sleep and taken a toll on me mentally.

For people who’ve gone through this treatment, did this ease up even somewhat once your treatment was completed? I am very scared about this, it might sound silly to some but I hope someone out there understands and can offer me some insight

  • Hi  I see it’s your first post so welcome.

I have a totally different cancer and totally different treatment journey and yes, ear problems like tinnitus do happen across many treatments used but most people do find it all clear up once the treatments are finished…… although a very small number of people end up with some permanent ear damage like myself and I now have hearing aids - but what price life.

You may want to join and post in our dedicated Testicular cancer support group as it good to talk with others on the same journey

  • Yes do that….. click on the “Bold Link” I have created above then once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)

    Reposted it now

  • Hi

I hope you don’t mind me answering as a female, but I’d like to recommend that you tell your consultant. I had Cisplatin chemotherapy for my cancer and tinnitus is a known side effect of this particular drug. Your consultant will want to know about this.

I called my specialist cancer nurse, she's having a meeting with someone and is going to call me tomorrow to let me know the outcome. I sadly won't see her tomorrow as she finishes before my outpatient appointment.

    Thank you for the reply.
