Hi I have recently been diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma, and am currently going through the staging process, one more test to have another pet scan because my last one was six weeks ago so is now classed as not up to date.I am interested to hear what the success rates are for treating this bearing in mind as yet we don't know what stage it is,i have had no symptoms associated with this at all,and it was picked up purely by chance.Thank you in advance for any info.
Hi faz, I don't have adenocarcinoma but can relate to the anxiety of waiting for test results. Unfortunately there is no short cut to geting the answers we all want about prognosis as every patients experience is completely different. It sounds as though you have resisted the temptation to consult dr Google he paints with a very broad brush and can cause needless alarm. All I can tell you from experience is that once you get your full diagnosis and treatment plan things will be easier as your focus will be on treatment and recovery and resuming a normal life. Are you getting the support you need emotionally ? , the mental pressures of a cancer diagnosis can not be underestimated, cancer can take you on a journey down a long and winding road and you shouldn't travel it alone.

Hi Johnty,Thank you so much for your reply.I have got some fantastic emotional support thank goodness,i have allways been able to deal with situations But obviously this is a whole new ball game.I have lost a few of my Family to different cancers,so it has allways been in my mind.Ahh Dr Google yes!! I did pay him a few visits at first, and as you say he paints with a very broad brush. My Team at the R.V.I are so good and they are getting things done quickly. We realise there are going to be tough times ahead, but we can overcome them and take each day and process one day at a time.Again thank you for your message and I will keep you up to date with my diagnosis and course of action that is going to be taken. If that's ok ?
Regards Faz.
Hi faz, you sound as though you have the right combination of optimism and realism due to cancer in you own family. There are so many cliches when talking about cancer treatment but most of them are true, it's a marathon not a sprint, take one day at a time etc. I did 6 months of chemo and learnt it was very important to pace yourself physically and emotionally and not put any pressure on yourself to do too much when you are feeling fatigued. Think of it as going on a expedition to a foreign land, you will be exploring places you've never been before and finding out things about yourself you never knew existed. Despite everything I've been through so far on my cancer journey I am still getting joy out of life and I see the colours of the world more brightly than before. So keep in touch and I will offer you any support I can.

Good morning Johnty, had my Pet Scan yesterday and I am expecting a phone call on Friday to go to the RVI to be told how the results have been interpreted.I like the way you said think of it as going on an expedition to a foreign land,of which I have been on many, but none can compare to this one.My Life has been full of ups and downs and would have made fantastic viewing on Long Lost Families. But there we are,We recently moved up North 18 mths ago and the people in our Village are so helpful and supportive it restores ones faith in humanity, also to have you to share things with makes things more understandable. You sound, and I am sure You are such a Positive person.Oh and on that note have only just found out my Blood Group and it is B.Positive which is what im being.
Anyway hope your day is good, and I am now going out to walk the dog.Take care.
Best Regards Faz.
Hi faz, it's good you have had your scan as now you are one step nearer getting your treatment plan and your journey can begin.
i would advise you to keep a journal as it helps to keep track of what you have been told and who you've spoken to and when, because doctors never read your notes properly and expect you to fill them in on everything that's happened.
Make short and medium term goals to do things you enjoy but also allow yourself the odd "pity party"preferably with a big chocolate cake and let those tears fall freely, its allowed once in a while and does you good.
remember cancer is just random and doesn't define who your are unless you let it.
best wishes

Good Afternoon Johnty,
Had a phonecall from my team yesterday as expected!! but now I must have an endoscopy to take a Lymph Node from my neck prior to chemo? So not quite the result we were expecting, but I suppose it is all part of the process.I have just sent an email to the Rutherford Center North East,to enquire about Proton Therapy as they are local to us.I just want to explore all Avenues of Treatment so hopefully they will be in touch.I hope your weekend is good and will be in touch regarding any developments.
Regards Faz.
Hi faz, sorry to hear you have to have another procedure before chemo proceeds, I think it's great you are being proactive and making enquiries about proton therapy. Try to have a relaxing weekend if you can and I look forward to a update when you are ready. I am doing well and will be spending the day pottering as the weather here today is atrocious.
best wishes
Hi Johnty,
I hope things are going well for you,i had some news yesterday and I have got my pre assessment on the 9th,the Hickman Line going in on the 16th,and Chemo starting on the17th.So busy days ahead. Feeling more apprehensive about it all now as things get closer but Hey im dealing with it.
The op at the end of all this is Quite daunting, but the expectations and results make it seem all worthwhile.I will keep you up to speed and let you know what I think of Chemo and how it affects me.So now im going to take the Dog out and start getting the first of my 10,000 steps a day in !!!.Take Care.
