Members of the Online Community have shared how helpful getting outside and walking has been for their mental health and wellbeing, even if it’s only a few steps around the garden or a few quiet moments in nature.
This thread is a space for anyone in the Online Community to share those moments. You’re welcome to:
There’s no pressure, targets, or competition. The idea is simply to encourage one another, share the small moments that help, and enjoy some of the wellbeing benefits that can come from fresh air, movement, and time spent outdoors.
Hi Robp701
Welcome to a wonderful group of folks. The chat on here is quite varied and wide-ranging and is a nice break from talking about our individual journeys. So please feel free to add in when you are out and about and let us know what you are up to?
If you are fairly new to all of this then could I just point out that you can see our personal profiles by clicking on our names in green or the round picture. If you feel ok about it you can add whatever details you wish into your own profile - but there is no pressure to add anything.
Do ask any questions as well - I always am of the opinion that there is no such thing as a daft question !
Best wishes
KrisPy
hi Clem16
I know - when did looking out for benches become a major component of going for a walk!!!
The local park cafe is run on a voluntary basis - I am lucky to have such a place, and such nice folk who live in my neck of the woods. You really do become appreciative of what ordinary folk do to help other folk!
All the best
KrisPy
Hi Robp701
A warm welcome to the Online Community from me. It's a community that no one us wishes to be part of, but there are some incredible people here who make it a very special place to both find and offer support.
Thank you for sharing a little about what you've been through. It sounds like you've faced a lot already. I hope your surgery in September goes as well as possible.
We have a range of forums based on different cancer diagnoses and experiences. If you'd like to share a little more about your situation, I'd be happy to point you towards the forum, or forums, that might be most helpful for you.
Hi KrisPy. Just wondering where that cafe is? Had my first SABR radiotherapy session on Wednesday at 11am & got session 2 today at 12.50pm, both at QE. No side effects yet, but see what I’m like after today. Got two next week Tuesday & Thursday.
Regards
Andy.
Think Cotteridge Park has a few community group things. I do walks with the Fircones & they stopped at cafe on walk & mentioned things going on. Lens is back in left eye, but I’ve been given 2 lots of drops & I’ll have an appointment in a couple of months to see what’s to be done. The vision in that eye won’t be get much better because I had a detached retina in it some years ago. They did mention a cornea? transplant. Anyway got to get radiotherapy & its side effects out of the way first. Hope things are steady with you as you have had a lot more things done as regards prostate cancer.
Best wishes
Andy.
Hi everyone,
If you haven't heard of the National Garden Scheme, I thought I'd share about it here.
The National Garden Scheme is one of Macmillan's partners and gives visitors the opportunity to explore over 3,300 beautiful private gardens across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Channel Islands.
If you'd like to see whether there's a garden open near you, you can enter your postcode on the National Garden Scheme website to find one to visit.
Whatever your weekend holds, I hope you're able to spend some time outdoors or do something else that supports your wellbeing.
Good day to everyone
Well I did have another walk to my local park again last evening but this time with a purpose. For the first time ever I joined a Yoga class in the park! A lovely balmy evening with blue skies and birds singing (alongside the sound of the railway line, the kids playing on the courts as well).
What a fantastic experience! There were around fifty other people there which was so great to see, a park being used for everyone by everyone (sorry NT).
I have done some gentle and kind seat Yoga before but this was the real thing - so glad I had had a little previous experience but I do need to work on my Warrior 3 pose!!!!
Can’t recommend it enough
All the best
KrisPy
