Members of the Online Community have shared how helpful getting outside and walking has been for their mental health and wellbeing, even if it’s only a few steps around the garden or a few quiet moments in nature.

This thread is a space for anyone in the Online Community to share those moments. You’re welcome to:

  • Share when you’ve been for a walk or spent some time outside
  • Talk about how you were feeling before or after
  • Share encouraging thoughts or quotes
  • Post photos from your walk (while staying safe and not sharing identifying details)

There’s no pressure, targets, or competition. The idea is simply to encourage one another, share the small moments that help, and enjoy some of the wellbeing benefits that can come from fresh air, movement, and time spent outdoors.

  • Hiya Amanda. Sorry for such long delay. I get a bit lost in these forum threads! I need an alert set up. Smile I’ve got 6 more chemos left over 3 months. Every two weeks. It’s quite intense but my gastric cancer is advanced so we’re throwing everything at it. Including a newish drug called Zolbetuximab. Train to Torquay sounds lovely. BlushPlanning small things and bigger things is what’s keeping me going. How are you doing this week?

  • Hi Pantherbaby

Couldn’t agree more - since finishing my chemo six weeks ago it has been great to be “out there” again  visiting friends and family.  I have missed my grandchildren so much over the last five months.

Planning for small stuff is the order of the day though, with further treatment planned for the autumn.

We and our friends have a vision for next year to celebrate our 70th birthdays- so something to look forward to once the next round of treatment is finished.

I wish you all the best for the forthcoming sessions.

    Best wishes

    KrisPy

  • Sure can. I’ve become addicted to the Merlin app. I never used to wake up so early and now I do I’m enjoying my cup of tea with the sounds of the birds. Small things but still good.
it gives me hope that people are on here years after their diagnosis and still doing adventurous things. I know it’s an individual journey and others’ experiences won’t necessarily be mine but living with cancer is something I am likely to have to do. I don’t think from what’s been said I’m going to be ‘cured’ so it’s positive to hear stories of living with cancer. Medicine is advancing everyday!

Just to add wellbeing wise I’ve been having reflexology and mobile pedicures at home. I really relax with these treatments and it feels like a little luxury.

  • Hi no i know what you mean i get a bit lost of what replys ive had. Its such a lovely busy forum though. Always lovely and supportive im glad i found this one. My gallbladder one is very quiet i suppose because it is so rare so theres not a lot of people on there, which is good in one respect but not another as its good to speak to people experiencing the same things as yourself.

Yes we are trying to plan something for the end of my chemotherapy.  i had cycle number 5 of 6 yesterday im experiencing a bit of insomnia today and ive  been awake since 2 30am.

Bless me do you mind me asking what type of cancer you have/had please.

    Take care

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the online Community, although I am so sorry to find you joining us.

We have a dedicated bladder cancer group you can join, there's always conversation going on there - here's the link you need:

     Bladder cancer forum

We also have a very active chat group and although the title is "Awake and Up All Night" the conversation flows 24 hours a day - here's the link you need:

     Awake and up all night

I hope this helps - if you require any further help in navigating the Community, please do get back to me.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • So I assume there are not any ?

  • Hello

No, there aren't any special groups on the Community that meet up at regular times for support - as far as I am aware.

On the Prostate group - we have a thread "No Specific Topic" which tends to get used for general conversations and topics have ranged from do-nuts to holidays but then it's only active when someone starts a chat.

We haven't considered the idea of an "open online" meeting before - we have had actual meetings around the Country - and as it's a new idea as far as I know - I will bring it up at my team meeting later in the month - watch this space as they say.

    Best wishes - Brian.
