Members of the Online Community have shared how helpful getting outside and walking has been for their mental health and wellbeing, even if it’s only a few steps around the garden or a few quiet moments in nature.

This thread is a space for anyone in the Online Community to share those moments. You’re welcome to:

  • Share when you’ve been for a walk or spent some time outside
  • Talk about how you were feeling before or after
  • Share encouraging thoughts or quotes
  • Post photos from your walk (while staying safe and not sharing identifying details)

There’s no pressure, targets, or competition. The idea is simply to encourage one another, share the small moments that help, and enjoy some of the wellbeing benefits that can come from fresh air, movement, and time spent outdoors.

  • Merlin app is brilliant.  I love to hear the birdsong and identify the different birds.

So many different varieties, always the Blackbird and Robin to round off the day!!

  • Huge thunserstorm and torrential rain here an hour ago (near York).

Feels very fresh now, but I guess humidity will increase as it dries out and temperature increases.

Made in 1956. Tested to destruction.

  • Morning Dylan

We had a cracking thunderstorm about 4.00am in Oldham - no lightning - but heavy rain - clear blue sky now with plenty of sunshine.

    Kind regards - Brian.

  • Hello

Yes, it's great. Since It's been on my 'phone I spend more time looking for the birds it's identified.

I don't think our dog is happy though as I keep stopping on our walks when I hear something new.

    Kind regards - Brian.

  • Going up to Glasgow soon.  Hope trains ok. Got rain there. Showers I think. First time I’ve been in nearly 4 years.

  • Hello

You should be fine - the weather gets back to "normal" over the weekend.

You enjoy the break - don't eat too much Haggis and Lorne Sausage!!

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • I live in a flat, but have a fair bit of green space in and around the area. I pop my phone on my window ledge and wait for birds to pop up!!

Then investigate what they are etc.

Most recently fascinated with the ' Dunnock ' !!

I'd never heard of that one!!

    Best wishes to you !!

  • I think a Dunnock is another name for a type of sparrow?

  • Yes, quite possibly is. Certainly a sparrow type species int it !!

  • I’ve had haggis, but the veg one not nice. Got them In Waitrose in Bham - ready for Burns night? I’ve had deep fried Mars bar. It’s like a hot pastry really. Haven’t had the square sausag, but I knew someone who had them delivered who I worked with. On train to G. 71 min late so far enough to claim dosh back.
