Members of the Online Community have shared how helpful getting outside and walking has been for their mental health and wellbeing, even if it’s only a few steps around the garden or a few quiet moments in nature.

This thread is a space for anyone in the Online Community to share those moments. You’re welcome to:

  • Share when you’ve been for a walk or spent some time outside
  • Talk about how you were feeling before or after
  • Share encouraging thoughts or quotes
  • Post photos from your walk (while staying safe and not sharing identifying details)

There’s no pressure, targets, or competition. The idea is simply to encourage one another, share the small moments that help, and enjoy some of the wellbeing benefits that can come from fresh air, movement, and time spent outdoors.

  • Lovely photos Seamus, I live near a canal too and walk my dogs everyday.  What is your boy's name?

  • Hi

He's called Patch! He is a rescue from a local charity and was almost 9 when he came to us. He was 12 last week and is still a very robust dog. We walk 5 or 6 miles every day and sometimes more.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

and the reward at the end of today's was...

  • Hi Brian yes I am on that forum thank you .  Here is a picture that someone on the incurable thread did of all our pets together.  My three dogs are the top row on the left.

He is so good at doing these pictures, it does make us all smile.

  • Hello Lee (

That's amazing - some people are brilliant with that sort of thing.

Mind you there are a coupe of cats there I wouldn't like to meet on a dark night!! Sweat smile.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Birmingham does have a lot of canals - great for a level walk......

This is at my local rail station, and you can walk along a couple of stops or into the City and then get the train back!!

  • That looks so pretty!

  • I do love how many canals there are in Birmingham,

It has been great seeing how people have been getting out and about recently, or even using YouTube to get a dose of the outdoors while indoors.

I thought it would be good to let everyone know that we have recently started a Summer Sports Chat if anyone wanted to take part in some discussions around the big sporting events taking place this summer.

    Best wishes,
    Dylan
