Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

That's a good innings for a guinea, so well worth the money. I think money's no object when it comes to our little furry ones. Maybe the vet used a rasp file to sort piggi's teeth?

    Hugs hon xxx

  • Maybe x they were my sons rescue piggies, he used to take on neglected piggies, how anyone could hurt piggies still shocks me. Some of the piggies had been hurt someone tried to pierce their ears, hard to believe anyone could think it was right. But  many lived for a good long time with my son, he's good with them.

  • That's lovely to hear about your son, so kind of him.

I'm afraid it's not hard to believe the cruelty some inflict on helpless animals though. We rescued our adored little rabbit from a miserable life, and someone had pierced one of his ears too! We loved him so much and eventually gained his trust, once he realised we meant him no harm. He went over the rainbow bridge just over three years ago, but we still cry over him even now. He's buried in our garden, in his favourite spot, so he's still with us in a way. We love all animals and the good folk here seem the same way too xxx

  • Reminds me of my wonderful rescue cat who also died 3 years ago, in February.  She was rescued from a kitten farm at the age of 2 weighing less than 2 kg with bald spots.  She was a Russian Blue and wonderful, but absolutely terrified of everyone and everything.  But over the years she became the friendliest cat in the world, even allowing little kids to pat her!

she had health problems all of her life because she was so mistreated.  Eventually she ended up with cancer and had some chemo, but it was all too much for her and had to be helped to the rainbow bridge, aged only 10.  She’s still my screensaver and avatarHeart eyes catand I still watch videos of her

  •  Piercing piggies and rabbits ears? I've never heard anything like it! Who would do that?? Barbaric. Poor little things. Glad at least some of them were rescued xxx

  • Aw Rose, so sorry to hear about her early life but you gave her the best one ever, so no regrets.

My phone screen saver has been a picture of our little darling for several years, and I say night night to him last thing, every day.

My eldest daughter had two rescue cats until last week. Her boy cat eventually had to be put to sleep after the discovery of a large tumour for which nothing further could be done. The good news is that he lived to the grand old age of 22. Admittedly, several thousand had been spent on his treatments over the years, but she deemed every penny well spent. His urn now sits beside the one of her 19 year old cat. Her remaining rescue is almost 16 and still full of life.

There must be something in the water round their way xxx

  • Julie, there are some cruel sods around, but cowards too, taking out their spite on defenceless animals.

They'll get their just deserts, eventually Fingers crossed xxx

  • Thanks Gill, fortunately I took out insurance for her and despite the high premiums got thousands of pounds of treatment covered

  • Good foreward thinking, Rose. I asked my lass if she'd got insurance a while back, but she told me she'd just carry on paying as and when. When her boy got elderly (for a cat) they got regular home vet visits for him as he was terrified of travelling, and the fees just became a matter of course. Both my girl and her fella are big earners, so they cough up and forget about the expense. Not everyone can do that, so they're lucky, as are their furry family xxx
