Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi Soc Wave Thanks lovely, but I can't take any credit for the twilight chat as it was Linda and Helen (Sbird) who did the honours. I was out for the count during those five hours, which was something of a miracle! But it's great to know you're happy to be part of the gang.

Hey, I hope the engineer turned up to service the boiler - it's often an appliance folk rarely give a second thought about unless it goes on the blink!

Hope you're feeling well and can enjoy the rest of the day sweetheart xxx

  • Thank you Gill. Yes Linda and sbird were great. I am feeling well enough today to do some ironing. Thank you for your kind comments.

  • Southerner here too but it's gone very dark now. Blowing up rain and definitely black over Bill's mother's!

Usually love the heat but steroids made me wake up with a flushed face this morning.  Panicking I had a temperature but managed to find a small patch on my forehead that was 36.5, took a couple of paracetamols and have sorted out my sheets and towels.  Far to many and taking up too much space.  Been meaning to do it for ages so making the most of the time now.

As I only take steroids Wed/Thurs (high dose), I'll be coming down tomorrow and by Saturday I'll be flat out! It takes my mood too which is a bit grim but I recognise it now and plan to sleep through it!

    Hope everyone is OK.

  • I love a good sort out. I did one recently. It lifts the weight off your shoulders. Hope you are feeling better.

  • I've got ironing to do too. It's no easy job at the best of times! I think I'll leave my pile for tomorrow now but I will do it. You have spurred me on to do it!!

  • I have loads of stuff for the charity shop! Joy

  • Hi Julie I don't like ironing mine has been there for months. Hope you get through it quick.xxx

  • Hi Soc I’m glad to hear you’ve felt well enough to do some ironing today. I used to hate ironing but I don’t mind it so much now as long as I can watch something on tv at the same time. I’m going to have loads next week after our holiday

  • It’s funny what anxiety will express,attach  itself through/to……

the last couple of days I have been fixated on getting my PJs ironed for when I go into hospital!  Do I usually iron them?  Defo not.   Do I need to?  Obvs not!  Will I?  Who knows…..who cares Joy

  • Ironed PJs will make you feel ready and confident Rose.

When I go in for chemo, I now put a bit of powder on my face (and then cover it with a mask! Joy) and wear something that makes me feel nice...not flashy, just comfortable, casual, hopefully a bit matching! I do it for myself. I don't want to go in there looking too ill!! It's part of the fight back!!

You're right Rose,  no one will be bothered about ironed PJs but you will and it will make you feel positive! Muscle That's all that matters. Hope it all goes well.

    Julie xx
