Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

I can fall asleep quickly but I wake up in pain every hour or so. I was recently diagnosed with melanoma I called him Keir. He had been in my ankle for over a year. Now he's gone but left cells behind. I am scared of the scans, (CT and pet) I need a lymph nodes checks and possible removal. No one has told me what stage I'm at or anything I'm guessing they don't know yet until the other tests are complete.
Oh Dingg, I had the battle with OH about seeing the doctor too. I nagged, begged and cajoled forever, but he wouldn't budge. In the end I told him outright I strongly suspected cancer, which gave him a jolt, but events caught up suddenly one evening when he told me he couldn't breathe - I got him to A&E as quickly as possible and it snowballed from there. When he was in hospital for all those months he lost so much weight very quickly, resulting in getting all his nutrition through IV. He was skeletal and it was a truly awful time. I'm so glad your hubby won't get to that stage as he's already being monitored. It's a real pity his nurse isn't stepping up to the plate though.
Anyway my lovely, you keep doing what you can for him, but do be pushy as it's surprising how quickly you may get your way by adopting a passive aggressive attitude, which is what I did on many an occasion. You know your husband better than anyone else after all.
Sending you both hugs, and I hope you manage to get some good sleep tonight xxx
Good evening Aloneandconfused, and a warm welcome to our group.
Aw sweetie, I'm sorry to hear about what's happening, but I do like your name of Kier for your pesky, unwanted visitor.
I'm sure the nurses will have some ways of getting you to relax during the scans, especially if you're claustrophobic, as they'll come across others who are nervous all the time.
Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about hurrying along any results, so it's a case of playing the waiting game. Rest assured it doesn't go on forever. I hope you've got adequate pain relief for when it wakes you up. Sending you big hugs xxx
Hi Angie Aw I'm glad you're managing your pain as there's nothing worse than when it won't go away.
I'm doing ok hon, as OH and myself have gone quite a way down our rocky road now - like yourself, we've got used to it. Well, until something else crops up
Do you think you might manage to get some sleep tonight hon? xxx
I just read the intro at the top typical of me not to have read it properly.
There's a Yorkshire tea night time add sugar or sweetners seems to usually help. But been so out of routine we've just had cold milk lately.
When l couldn't sleep as a child l had a book with animal tales in it and there was a wonderful picture of a bear in bed reading his book in a cave safe and warm from the wind and rain. Beautiful illustrations just thinking maybe looking at restful pictures may still work. There's a few Facebook groups I've seen dedicated to lovely characters in restful country scenes .
I do still love Rupert Bear illustrations.
Hope you are all getting to sleep better than me tonight at least all the best to everyone x
Aye, it's a journey and a half love, but we'll get our best hiking boots on and march forward.
I've been willing myself to nod off this last half hour, so I'm going to put ghost stories on as they usually do the honours. Hope you manage to nod off soon sweetheart xxx
