Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hey Kiddo, is that curly plant the cleaver? I've just looked it up and you're right that it does indeed help drain the lymphatic system, along with other benefits.

OH's lymphedema is constantly flaring up, but I've just been told to keep on with the massages, which don't seem to do a great deal of good imo. I'm surprised his nurse hasn't mentioned it, so I'll delve deeper into how it should be used.

    Thanks for that hon xxx

  • PS sound advice from your son, too xxx

  • It's called Cleavers or Sticky Willy. You chop it up put it in water and leave it overnight in the fridge. Get the leaves out and drink. It says it's good at fighting cancer cells, but who knows.

  • I think the medical profession don't credit stuff like this.

  • Sticky Willy Joy Sorry, my childish SOH.

Well, I'll certainly be looking into it, but I'll check for interactions with his prescribed meds first. Blimey, if it's ok for him to take I'll get cracking as soon as! Thanks again chief xxx

  • Uki, the medical profession never endorse natural remedies, as they don't make a single penny for big pharma. I'll do any checks and then decide xxx

  • Thanks Gill, yes our mind works over time its taken hubby 4 hours to drink one of those nutrients drinks the small ones, he had a 300 cal ice cream for breakfast and on second bottle of drink now. They said the multi disaplinary team meet 14th next week and we see a throat surgeon that day. Checked no results today. Will see GP as doom and gloom cancer nurse doesnt reply to us, messaged her Thursday no reply since .

Hubby very resiliencent prob due to coming from a family of coal miners and sailors, he refuses to think of himself as ill but getting him to doc can prove a slight battle lol

  • Good point

In the old days people used to only have home made remedies esp during WW2 when they couldnt afford doc
