Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Too busy researching and organising the practicalities and possibilities, too

    Hi Ursula

It sounds like you're getting organised. Please don't research cancer/medical on Google, there's a lot of misinformation out there.

  • Hiya all, new here.  haven't been sleeping much since got diagnosed with carcinosarcoma 4 days ago having scans then have to wait few weeks for results to see what stage it is

  • Hi  and welcome to the group.

Your diagnosis will be at the forefront of your mind right now, so it can be difficult to sleep. This group is a great place to come if you’re having trouble with your sleep, and you’ll find other night owls to chat to which will hopefully help. Chat goes on here through the day and night, so you’ll normally always find others about.

I see you’ve found the womb group and posted there, and I know the ladies will be very happy to help support you through from their experiences.

I hope you get whatever scans you need soon-I know I found things became easier when I had my scans and had a treatment plan,

    Sarah xx

  • Hi  Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It's not surprising that you're not sleeping while you wait ffor the next step.

I hope it's not too long a wait then you'll know what the plan is.

    Good luck with your treatment.

  • Hiya lh, and a very warm welcome to our group Wave

It's no surprise your sleeping has been disrupted my lovely, but once you get your treatment plan, that should settle you somewhat. However, that will probably be a few weeks down the line, so what to do in the meantime?

A few suggestions - a warm, milky drink before bedtime, soothing music to drift you off or sleep/meditation podcasts. Or you can always post here to our resident night owls - here's a badge as part of your welcome pack Owl xx

We're a very friendly bunch, and good listeners, so drop in anytime you'd like to chat.

Sending you hugs, and I hope you'll be able to enjoy the Easter weekend if you feel up to it xxx

  • You enjoy your Easter eggs. xx
