Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I’ve just had a phone call from the hospital to say they’ve just had a cancellation and would I like my surgery on Monday!!

I spoke to the surgeon’s registrar yesterday who said nothing significantly different on my CT and was I happy to go ahead with the surgery.  I said yes ish…..she said I would have a date within the next month.  So I was expecting a phone call from them today with a date….,

I feel like a headless chicken running round in circles just now.  I know I have a lot to do/organise, but I can’t think what!

  • That's good news Rose.

You need: fluffy bed socks, soft nightie, snuggly warm jumper, toothbrush,  underwear and your phone so you can keep us updated and we can send you lots of love Heart

    Julie xxxx

  • Hi Rose RoseDo you want your surgery to go ahead on Monday sweetheart? If I was in your position, I'd be giving a resounding Yes! There's less time to dwell and it will be done sooner than anticipated, so they're positives.

It's no wonder the headless chicken routine has suddenly come into play, but take a deep breath and put the kettle on. When you've got time, make a list of everything you'll need to do before Monday - any phone calls, everything you'll need to take with you and arrangements for travel to hospital. Anything you can think of basically. It will all fall into place.

You could also tell me to mind my own business, which I won't mind at all lovely, I just want to help you out when you've suddenly been put on the spot.

Hoping you'll get on track soon, and sending you warmest hugs xxx

  • Thanks, Julie.  I had already bought some new button up PJs

like you and your make-up, I thought I should look as good as I can……!

  • Go for it Rose. It's just given me a bit of confidence and I'm low on that at the moment!

    Julie xxx

  • Hi Julie Wave our posts to Rose crossed, but I think you gave her sound advice about what to get ready for her potential hospital stay.

Aw sweetie, sorry to hear you need a bit of a boost, but your inner strength leaps out from your posts, it really does. You've got this Julie, and wear your slap with pride today - show them who's boss!

Big hugs and love coming your way xxx

  • Thanks Gill.

    Go for gold First placexxx

  • Good news Rose get it over and done with also you’ve not got too much time to worry about it. I find it helpful to write a list of things I need to do and tick it off as I do them . Do you know how long you’ll be in hospital?
