Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • The party was exhausting Rofl. Remy wanted me to stay with him while he ran around like a dingbat Rofl. Alan managed to stay in the kitchen supplying drinks (it was in a village hall). I was in bed before 9pm last night Sleeping

We've got glorious weather here although we had a heavy frost this morning, so we've been out for breakfast and a walk around Ramsgate Harbour.

  • Wow Helen, no wonder you were in bed before 9 with all the running around - sounds like you'll always find Alan in the kitchen at parties...

A good morning though, and some scran too - that's the way to do it xxx

  • Not such a positive day for me today.

Managed to get out in the sunshine this morning which was lovely but spent most of the rest of the day trying to stay away from the OH who has a dreadful cold. I have a sniffle but it's not coming to anything but convinced it'll delay my first chemo Wednesday.  I guess I have a couple of days to shake it off. OH busy cleaning down surfaces but could just do with the company.  I guess consultant with decide Wednesday.

Just want to get started now. Hope everyone is ok.

    Julie xx

  • Hi Julie Wave Aw love, I hope your chemo can still go ahead. I've got no idea if a cold can cause a delay, so fingers crossed it doesn't. I bet your poor OH is feeling guilty even though it's not his fault - maybe a cold and flu prep like Lemsip will help him shift it. Good luck over the next couple of days getting rid of the damn thing.

All ok here thanks, apart from OH breaking a tooth on a piece of hazelnut chocolate! Fortunately it's one marked for extraction shortly - RT enhanced damage bejabers.

I think drinking plenty is supposed to ease a cold, so maybe worth a try hon xxx

  • Thanks for getting back Gill.

Poor OH hasn't had a cold for ages, just bad luck. I'm drinking 2 litres + water so any germs I have are getting flushed through Muscle. He'll be back at work tomorrow so I'll have more freedom in the house (he has spent most of the day in spare room mind you!)

Sorry to hear about the tooth! Blooming chocolate!! Better have been worth it!!

    Julie xx

  • Hi Julie

Have you had a pre chemo blood test? That will determine if you're OK to go ahead with chemo.

  • OH breaking a tooth on a piece of hazelnut chocolate

    Ouch.

  • I had lost of blood tests last week but not sure what they were for. They took a whole armful last Monday!

  • Helen, OH has assured me it doesn't hurt at all but I'll be glad when he has what's left of it pulled out! xxx

  • Well done on swigging all the water Julie, so let's hope it helps. After being confined to quarters I'll bet your OH will be looking forward to get back to work!

The chocolate was indeed worth it hon xxx
