Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Morning Helen Blush I'm a tea or coffee person, but prefer decaf coffee. I've just started drinking a couple of peppermint teas in the morning and they're nice and refreshing. I'm on the hunt for spearmint now!

Enjoy your friend's visit and, of course, the joys of Thora and Remy xxx

  • Well done, that's brilliant Pepper! I was awake for about 1 1/2 hours but only just woke at 8am so was a better sleep for me too.

Hope you have a better day. Sleep is such a powerful thing!! I'm off to the dentist! Grin Need to get my teeth checked before it all kicks off!

Then we have a mortgage meeting as the fixed rate is running out at the end of May!! It just gets better and better!!

    Sending hugs to everyone!

  • Hell fire Julie, everything wants to join the party. Going by our experience of such unwanted 'thrills', we took one thing at a time, ticked them off and hoped for the best outcome. There's not much else you can do but I'm hopeful they'll all be resolved soon. Keep your peckers up and big hugs to you both.

Are you feeling ok today hon? xxx

  • Not to bad so far today Gill.

Just taken my second dose of steroids and things that protect me from it. Felt a bit wired before bed last night but it wore off. Sadly, didn't feel like decorating the house or neither running up the walls thankfully!

Just had one of those spam debt calls!! Honestly,  they've picked the wrong person at the moment!!!! Muscle Don't usually pick those calls up but what with all the hospital calls, I have to now. Poor boy, I gave him what for!! Laughing

    Hope you're ok too xx

  • We're fine thanks Julie. Crikey, you could do without the spam but at least it gave you a chance to let off steam. OH gets them all the time, which is useless as he can't speak! I have to monitor them though, as like yourself they could be from the hospital. Almost everyone knows to use my number now but the odd one slips through.

It's good you managed some sleep, and don't bust a gut to decorate till you really feel like it - maybe when the meds have stabilised themselves.

Good luck at the dentist and fingers crossed your mortgage can be sorted to your satisfaction sweetheart Pray Take care and hugs xxx

  • do you find u still get scared? Its all most been 2 years since I had cancer. I sometimes wish I didn't get it but I Know it save my life how do you cope? Hope you don't mind me asking

  • Hi Doreen Wave

I don't mind you asking as I'm sure others may feel the same sometimes, even when they've been told NED. Personally, I think I'll always fear my OH will have a recurrence, but I never say anything about it to him as I want him to remain positive and enjoy what we have.

You should try to do the same my lovely, and not dwell on ifs and buts.

How are you doing, and did you go to the Centre again? It will do you good to get out and have the company of others.

Take care and I hope you're well xxx

  • Morning Gill and my other chatty friends.

I’m posting here with positive news to share. Today is the 6th anniversary of my biggest surgery-the total pelvic exenteration-so a day to celebrate another very fortunate milestone in life.

So blessed to have such brilliant surgeons in Sheffield who allowed me to beat very poor odds of survival.

Life may be different, and sometimes very difficult with this osteoarthritis, but it’s nothing to do with my cancer, which has gone.

A bit of positivity for those are not as far down the line as me-it’s more than 7 years since my first diagnosis. Never give up hope when things look dark, and keep putting one foot (slowly in my case) in front of the other.

    Sarah xx

  • Brilliant news Sarah, and thank you so much for sharing it!

I reckon it will give a boost to all those who are just starting treatment, currently going through it or waiting for results, the latter being the most difficult for many.

Will you celebrate in some way, as you deserve to? Here's my gift, a virtual bottle of champagne so it doesn't really matter if you don't like the stuff! Enjoy and have a smashing day my lovely Champagne xxx
