Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Did you and your grandad share a good relationship when he was alive? It's been said that spirits like to rekindle associations with others whose company they've enjoyed. I think I'd find it comforting if I was visited by a loved one. Or maybe not, as I might freak out!

  • We did have a good relationship and I looked up to and respected him and yes l found it comforting,  l can feel him now as we talk.

  • Crikey. Well you must be blessed as I find it fascinating. Here's a question, do others in your house also feel his presence, or do you live alone? No need to answer if I'm being too nosy.

  • Ive no problem replying, I live alone my wife died several years ago. Ive only recently joined in to conversation. Having recently been diagnosed with cancer l was interested in what Macmillanwas about.

  • I'm really sorry to hear that my friend, and I hope you're in a good place now. I joined Macmillan on the day my OH was discharged from hospital after three and a half months in there. I suppose I was a bit lost back then, but I've made some fantastic new friends. I've never met any of them in person but we can chat so freely I feel like I've known them for ages. Is that something you'd like to happen?

  • Im really enjoying chatting so yes I think  ill continue with it. Having recently been diagnosed with an aggressive type of bladder cancer im struggling to find the way to go. Luckily l have a very understanding lady friend and several supportive mates.

  • That's fabulous to know about your friends and thank you for sharing. This thread can jump all over the place and we chat about anything, although we do support those who need a shoulder from time to time. The specific cancer forums provide extra support from those either going through treatment or recovery. And those that have recovered of course. I hope you continue to post here as well, as this thread is very busy all day long. I've enjoyed our chat immensely and I'm sure those reading will have too. xxx

  • I always enjoy reading the chats it’s a lovely little community here. It feels like a safe place to share things. Im an imposter though because I rarely have trouble sleeping Rofl Gill you are great at making us all feel at ease and welcome!
