Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Well, I've been sleeping better since ringing that bell last week, but here I am, wide awake. I've got a big day tomorrow - daughter's graduation so I've got to be up early and onto a train. Following surgery and radiation, my bras are now too small and my outfit doesn't look great. I'm worried about being in crowds - people pushing and jostling. I want it to be a brilliant weekend for her, she has worked so hard and had a lot to cope with. She doesn't need a mother falling asleep and baggy eyed!!

    I'm also really excited.

I'm going to put on some wave music and try to bore myself to sleep by counting sheep. I do find that works if I really imagine myself in a field, helping a farmer. Fingers crossed.

  • Have a good day with your daughter's graduation. It is a lovely day to share. I still have my families memories in centre place!!!

I had what was thought a good rest but now try it as it goes.

  • I have trouble sleeping and I have back pain and legs due to letrazol. Anyone else had this I had breast cancer I also swear by soursop

  • Sorry to hear about your sleep troubles and your back & leg pain.  I hope it settles down.

  • Hello sbird thank you for that , I'm already feeling more positive, I've got my routine full body CT and ultrasound end of month.  Slept better after seeing my GP , examination revealed no lumps , looks like microlithiasis which is a condition I'm stuck with after surgery . So glad I joined group for this support. Leocat .

  • Hello again Never1 Hugging

Enjoy your clever and caring daughter's graduation to the max! You both deserve the best day, especially yourself after going through this for the second time.

Sending you both congratulations and big hugs xxx

  • Good morning Leocat Wave I'm so glad you're back on track and it comes through loud and clear you feel the same. Well done you, and all best wishes for the scans, which hopefully will put your mind, and your loved ones, at ease.

Sending you all big hugs xxx
