Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I'll give it my best shot Eddie.

    Night night xx

  • Hi Gill,  I am about 30 miles outside Norwich and the heat is making us all feel like doing nothing !!  Just read your amazing story.  You and H are inspirational xx

  • Hi there Sheelagh.

Obviously we're both still awake!  What are we like?  I told Eddie I'd have a go at nodding off but filling my face with a Yorkie at the time didn't help.

Oh thank you for that lovely, but if you want inspiration there are far better accounts within the community.  Those I've been reading lately have inspired me and H alike.  Just incredible stories of unadulterated determination and I've been on a mini mission to lead others to read them if they've been wobbling.  Have you found they've helped you too?  I hope so because you've had a jolt lately with the setback.  Have you managed to prepare yourself a little for what may be in store, or had any feedback yet?

You don't need to tell me anything private as you must keep that to yourself, but I'd like to know you're feeling better about things.  We care a lot about our fellow members.

Anyway, I'm not surprised people feel lethargic as this weather's a no no - too muggy and draining.  A good thunderstorm would liven things up and clear the air.  Oops, maybe you don't like storms.

It's half past one but if you fancy a chat for a while I'm not tired yet.

    Hugs xx

  • I’ve been awake since then !   I have another MRI tomorrow.  I’m desperate to have a treatment plan and get out of limbo.  I’m hoping for this week bud think it won’t be till next week.  I’m not a ‘talker’ more a ‘thinker’.  The chats on here are what keep be going.

  • Morning Sheelagh.  Of course you want the plan, as soon as possible, so you can move forward and get some control back.  I'd be desperate too!  But hang on girlie, it will happen and then things will come together quickly.  In the meantime try and get some rest; I'm a thinker too and my mind conjures up scenarios that rarely come to pass.  I'm also a talker and find it a challenge to shut up!

I've got my fingers crossed for you tomorrow and will talk to you here anytime you like about anything you like.  No subject too silly - now that is one I excel!

Sending you hugs and strength xxx

  • Don't even try to shut up ... I love reading your chats!

  • That might have come out wrong Gill, so I'll just add, I meant it tongue in cheek so to speak ... you are going through a lot too, so I would never want you to feel under pressure to keep chatting ...

  • Thanks Tinks, and I love your highly amusing chats too! xxx

  • Round 3 of chemo tomorrow, hope I get some sleep tonight!

  • Hiya Stevie.

Wishing you luck for tomorrow.  I loved the way you wrote 'round 3' as it reminded me of a boxing match - you've got this, so knock it cold!

I hope you're still doing well with your treatment and fingers crossed the nausea's under control.  So, I hope you get as much sleep as possible and the good news is it's already today!

    Sending strength and hugs xx
