Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hehe I remember getting dressed in my bed as well that’s brought back some memories

  • My older sister and me shared a bed for over six years. We used to get dressed under the covers, like in a tent, and we had our dad's overcoat on the candlewick bedspread for extra warmth. It didn't help much in the winter of 1963...

  • Hi I was awake most of last night ,I got diagnosed  in October with breast cancer I think am still in shock or I am taking it in my stride ,I don't no .,I don't no how am feeling x but 1 thing I do no I am terrified of treatment after surgery if I need it .

I watched a documentary about that last night.

  • Hi Angelika

I'm sorry you've found yourself here.

The diagnosis is a shock, I hope your treatment goes well. Try to take 1 day at a time.

  • Hello.
Welcome to the group. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Take one step at a time. You have got this.
    xx

  • Hi Angelika, so sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but a big welcome to the group x I was diagnosed similar time to you, not breast but cervix. I feel the same, still not sure if in shock or taking things in my stride. If it helps, ive found not thinking too far ahead, mainly day at a time (can sound like a cliche i know Blush). Today is my second week of treatments, I just tick off each treatment on my appointments letter and each day I feel " I can do this!". I wish you well. Welcome again  to "night owls Owl

    Hugs Lesley xx
