Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi Gill I don’t usually get an advent calendar for myself but now you’ve mentioned it ….ive started to get a few goodies in for Christmas the problem I have is trying not to eat them and then having to buy more hehe

  • Hi Steve. No, I don't need to put my hands up over the dark chocolate as OH gets the whole bar, spread over a few days. I've always got a few bars in stock

I admit to attacking Yorkies, family sized mint Aeros, and on it goes. My big bro used to treat me to sweets all the time when I was a youngster, so that's another thing I refuse to let go of. Apologies to the diabetics here, me rambling about things that will be denied.

Hope you're enjoying Lincolnshire Steve - OH's older brother has lived there for years as he worked at RAF Scampton before it closed down. Take care xxx

  • We've got the same problem Linda. We bought a stash at M&S last week, intending to save them for Christmas treats. After a half hearted attempt at 'hiding' them in the pantry, we've scoffed the lot and another batch will have to be bought in. But hey, why leave all the goodies when they're begging to be eaten now? I promise NOT to open more than one advent calendar door per day. She says...

    Hugs my lovely xxx

  • Disney fan here too.

  • I've not seen any Disney films for years Helen, but would still enjoy all the old ones. Dumbo used to be on every Christmas and it was always a firm favourite. One of my earliest memories was seeing Snow White at the pictures with my mam and sister. Fantastic times xxx

  • My daughter who's 38 is still a massive Disney fan. She bought a gorgeous Disney handbag & matching purse for her wedding in July this year.

  • Oh I bet they looked lovely Helen. Nobody should be afraid to enjoy things they love, no matter what their age, so good for her. My daughter was a huge Mr Men fan when she was very small and we bought her a new book every week, as a Saturday treat. About ten years ago I got her the full box set and she was made up - she's 45.

Fun fact for the day. Mr Men creator, Roger Hargreaves, was born half a mile from our house, in a private hospital that's no longer there. He was brought up a couple of miles away. That's my tenuous claim to fame as I never even knew the bloke. xxx

  • Hello I'm new here I've been told today I need to have a mastectomy preformed as my right breasts is too infected by cancer. I'm turning 30 in a few weeks and getting married in 2 years. I've been doing some thinking and research but needed someone's opinion is a immediate breasts reconstruction my best option to go for to save what's left of my mental health?

  • Good evening Jess, and a very warm welcome to our friendly group, although I'm so sorry to hear about your potential surgery.

If you haven't already done so, joining the breast cancer group would be a good start, as you'll be able to connect with others who can give great advice on your questions. Now I'm hoping a Community Champ might come along to point you in the right direction, as I'm not savvy enough to talk you through it. But if not tonight, more than likely tomorrow. But stay here for as long as you like it you just fancy some chit-chat to while away the time. And big congratulations on your future wedding - you might already be in the planning stages as there's such a lot to do. Sending you big hugs my lovely xxx

  • I’m caring for my grandad (gramps) he’s got lung cancer but treatment isn’t available. He’s knocking out the Z’s and I’m wide awake. I don’t get much sleep these days
