Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • It’s SO much better than the mobility scooter, Jane, and half the weight which makes a real difference. It literally turns on a sixpence!

What a long time you’ve been getting things sorted to sell up-you’ve been amazing in all that you’ve done and all you have organised. You have a lovely big house and such a gorgeous garden but downsizing should make it easier to manage everything if you can find a new place you really like. So stressful for you though. Let’s hope potential buyers see how lovely it is in this nice weather.

  • Your chair sounds brilliant Sarah. There is a tiny house I have viewed twice that has potential. The current owner has let the garden get overgrown but that would not bother me because I would love a gardening challenge.I know how nice it could be from the previous sale photos. It’s a corner house near dr’s and shops so the location is ideal though I would be further away from John. There are cheaper areas but they are much further away and rougher.I have done a lot of homework on all the areas that might be affordable and safe. It’s going to be very different but it’s time for a change.xx

  • It must be really hard knowing where to choose for the best as regards cost and location-I’d hate to have to move again unless it was to buy a bungalow with a lottery win!

This one you’ve viewed sounds very promising, and seeing it twice you must have really thought it had potential for you. Fingers crossed-I suppose we all have to compromise with some things, but if you don’t have to compromise too much it might be a winner.

  • I’m prepared to compromise on a house if I can do something with a garden.Having a garden is the most important thing to me  because it helps mentally.I suppose I will just have to see what is on the market when this is eventually sold.xx

  • Wow!  You certainly know your stuff, Ray, and thank you for the tutorial.  Did I understand it all?  In a word, no, but it might explain why my long time perforated eardrum doesn't want me to take to the skies.  The last time I flew, 1996, proved so painful as we soared skyward, I almost bit through my daughter's shoulder who was unfortunately in the next seat.  Good job it wasn't a stranger else I might have got turfed out on landing and accused of being a raving lunatic!

Anyway, hope you've enjoyed your day and managed to keep cool in the oppressive heat.  I'm still waiting for that elusive storm but the sun's broken through the clouds.  Disappointment is an understatement.

  • Gill, good job you aren't a zombie!!  I've got visions of 'The Walking Dead ' on a plane!

  • Aye, to the casual onlooker onboard, they may have thought I had a craving for human flesh as my lass was wearing a vest top at the time.  Good job I didn't draw blood but she yelped, loudly!  She once took me to the proms and the train home was really fast.  Going through tunnels was agony and I whimpered throughout.  I thought my head was going to explode!

Off subject but I'd been out in the garden and when I came in, my fella was watching cricket.  It's still on, and I'm trying to keep my beak shut, but what the hell's going on?  Whooshing sounds, amplified noises of clacking ball on bat and blokes marching off with their faces tripping them.  Not my bag at all.  Oh, and a woman keeps chipping into the commentary.  I'll give it a swerve.

  • Hi Winkers, I would hate to have to move. Shortly after my dx we thought we would have to move but then decided to add an extension at the side (we are on a corner) to put in a shower room and toilet. Then about a year later, when I was still alive & kicking, the Occupational therapist arranged for us to have a stairlift knowing we didn't want to move.

the house you mentioned seems nice in a good area, my dad always said you get what you pay for. So if it is a bit dearer that means it is in a good area! Good luck!

  • Hi again Gill, today was the 2nd really hot day recently but it has rained twice and tonight they are warning of severe thunderstorms & flooding. Maybe when we go to Yorkshire we will get 2 nice days in a row but not too hot as we are not used to it!
