Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Morning Steve. It was a good match and we were pleased with the result - your goalie played a blinder! Good man.

Bruce is a great name and it brings to mind, rugged, tough, dependable etc. You'll have to let us know xxx

  • Hi TallOne, and a warm welcome to our friendly little family, though I'm so sorry you find yourself here.

I understand what you're going through my friend, I'm stage 4, 3 1/2 years now, going through 18 months on 90 minutes sleep a night, and over the last 17 months my eldest daughter and her mum have both had a stage 4 diagnosis, fortunately I have many years in cancer/palliative care to fall back on.

Can I suggest you call your GP, and get a referral to your local hospice and their palliative care team"they are NOT just for end of life care," I've had mine for 2 years now, also a referral for the district nurse, they will provide so much help and support to you both, and sorry to ask, but are hubby's treatments and corticosteroids as well as his DPD being properly monitored my friend, it's a very harsh regime he's on and maybe they can help in some way.

Awww sweetheart, it's not surprising your not sleeping well with everything you have to deal with, do you have any time to yourself, it's so important you do, to switch off and care about yourself for a while every day, a nice walk is good as it does help lower stress, and anxiety which don't want you to sleep. I know you've tried relaxation, but  www.maggies.org do psychologist led one, at their centres or online, which really helped me, you could download the sleepio app too, best wishes to you both
