Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Morning Gilly, yes it's that time, and well done learning something new, I love studying too

Well my friend when we go next week to the Scilly's, we take the train to Exeter then fly to the islands, the second time, even if my cardio team say it's ok for me to fly, as one of my friends is on oxygen all the time, and it can often be a hassle flying with oxygen we will take the ferry, plus my best pals Poppy and Cassie prefer the boat.

The leftover fries will go to the hens tomorrow, as the dogs won't eat them, chickens and chips what could be better.

Well it's sort of sad, but true, but everyone of us going through treatments. is helping doctors improve therapies and treatments for those that follow.and I'm not sure about a cure for all cancer, but for most I think a cure isn't far off, my only concern would be there's a lot of money invested in treatments and profits being made; would a magic bullet be welcomed by big pharma.

Oh dear what's LOH doing supporting a Lanky team?; if he's a jinx that's ok, and little brother never stopped long.

I've not seen Sian posting for some time, but took that as good news regarding the fires, please tell her I'm thinking of them both, and hoping there'll be less things to worry about too.

Awww Gilly, I like you too much to put idiot brother on you, but if you need advice on bed sore; that's different.

Meds and bed for me my friend.

    love Eddie xx

  • Morning Jann, I have a photo of the guys from the art group showing off their pictures in the dark, but can't show it as its against guidelines

Jann, I don't know who told you that saying, but they are wrong, everyday doesn't have to be as bad as the last, my friend, my cancer isn't curable; and I may have as little as 3 months, but I refuse to let cancer define me, as a young lass on another of my forums said, I have cancer, cancer doesn't have me, and I hope the lovely people on the forum will show you, that you still have a life to live. it may not be the one any one of us wanted, but it can still be a life worth living.

I think I could paint a windmill, iff you'd accept it as a gift m.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Gill/Eddie, although I don’t post often, I for one enjoy reading your posts, keep it up guys, I’m sure a lot of us really appreciate the effort you both put in and I do end up smiling, even though half the time I don’t understand half of what is being referred to. I put it down to me being an Essex girl, you can take the girl out of Essex (and pop her in west Wales) but you can’t take Essex out of the girl Joy

Much love to you both xxx

  • Eddie, there are some great quotes flying around this weekend.

    the low IQ brigade

We've never really thought about going to the Scilly's before.  I could put it on a bucket list (that I've never even thought about yet).

  • Deb, I've just read the update on your profile, hope your husband is still recovering well, also I hope you are keeping well.

You came out with a a good quote yesterday:

you can take the girl out of Essex (and pop her in west Wales) but you can’t take Essex out of the girl

    Take care, both of you.

  •   here's something to ponder on a Sunday morning.

If this thread was called "Asleep and not up all night" there wouldn't be any posts as we'd all be asleep!!

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Sweat smile I'd never thought of it like that before, and I'll ponder it while changing the bedding. Saying that, I might be tempted to collapse on said bedding, fall asleep and then be up all night, which would defeat the object. This is getting a bit complicated Steve...?

  • Morning all

I can't keep up with you lot Joy

We're still in Liverpool, still looking after the in-laws. Just about to take them shopping.

I'll try and read back later.

  • Eddie , you know when you've got to go...  Well this is a true story from this morning.

The Good Samaritan - A true story!!!

We were going to the 'Book Fair' at Tynemouth Metro Station'. Took ages to get parked. When we got out of the car I was bursting for a pee!!! It was about 10:40 so the pubs weren't open! Not a public toilet for miles!

I said I would try and hurry on, trying to find a café or something...

My legs were crossed now... and my walking was down to a crawl!

    I thought "Any time now..."

When a cheeky thought went through my head...

I'm going to knock on someone's front door and ask if I could please use their toilet!!!

    It took some courage!

But... I knocked...a man answered the door and I asked him..." I know this is cheeky, but, I have Prostate Cancer and I'm absolutely bursting for the toilet... could I please use yours???"

Expecting him to say" No", he said" Of course you can!"

I told him" You are a lifesaver!!"

The question is " Would you let a stranger use your toilet??"

When I caught up with Tracey again and told her, she said " YOU DIDN'T!!!"

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • That was indeed courageous Grinning! I am so wary of strangers knocking on the door and take so long to get there that most give up, even JhWs. One of the few advantages I have thanks to bladder cancer is a long term Foley catheter and a 2litre bag. Even with my 3-4litres per day water consumption it gives me at least 2 hrs duration and some acceptable options if emptying becomes necessary.
