Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

I've had endless problems
Hi Gill. I don’t normally frequent here but keep an eye on it since it was set up.
We have Duraphat threads running in Head and Neck.
I am continually incensed which is not good for my blood pressure.
GPs refuse to prescribe this “Dental Product” and private dentists charge for providing it plus you have to pay the full price to the pharmacy.
The guidance clearly states that if a head and neck patient has no access to an NHS dentist the GP can prescribe. I have no problem here in Wales but I am moving to Shropshire in a couple of weeks. I am well armed but I shouldn’t have to be.

Hi BFA and a very warm welcome to our group.
Oh the waiting for results is always the worst, as it's not knowing what they'll be, but when you do know, things will fall into place. Once you get a plan and know what to expect, you'll regain some control, putting your mind at ease and helping to stop that pesky overthinking. Others are bound to ask how you are through concern for yourself, but I can totally get you may not want to talk about it yet as it can be upsetting. You can talk about anything you want to here my friend, as we're a friendly bunch and quite a few of us stay awake till all hours, if you should find yourself struggling with sleeping. Drop in anytime you feel like a chat and take good care xxx
Hi Dani.
Yep, I had a good old gripe about our GPs as they make a tough job even more frustrating. I didn't know about Duraphat as my OH only had the one tube, given to him during his initial dental appointment in the very early days. But, thanks to your advice, I'll know if it's recommended in the future.
Cheers Dani and watch that blood pressure - mine reaches boiling point when I ring our surgery! xxx
Hi Gilly, another busy, but enjoyable day here, and good to hear you too managed some sleep, but oh dear your surgery, it seems your banging your head against a brick wall, and maybe you should take things further, as things can't go on like this my friend, you both need and deserve so much better than you are getting. I would be arranging an appointment with the practice manager to voice all your concerns and tell them you'll be contacting your, local integrated care board, and parliamentary and health service ombudsman, if your reasonable wishes aren't met. You can also talk to PALS, I've used them myself a couple of times with good outcomes. You don't have to put up with being treated like this my friend,
love Eddie and family xx
Hi Eddie and good to know you've had a great day! I fell asleep in the comfy chair earlier - it was either that or vit B12 that's helped as I've had very restful kips these last few days.
Seems I'm not on my own with dodgy doctors as Dani's post also outlined their obstructive MOs. I'll wait till our appointment on the 20th and see how it goes, as the Doc we'll be seeing knows I'm a truculent bod. I'd already said to LOH I'd contact PALS if this nonsense carries on, and I will.
Now you keep enjoying the day Eddie, and I'll go do the washing up before the comfy chair entices me back into its folds. Love to all from us xxx
Hi, BFA, and a warm welcome from me, and well done with joining the community, which is a big, and hopefully rewarding step as you navigate these difficult times, what you are feeling is perfectly normal, as is researching what you may or may not have, but please stay clear of Google, it will take you down the darkest roads, stick to trusted sites, Macmillan, CRUK, and the NHS. As Gilly has said this is the most difficult time, and we all had to find a way through, I used to keep busy and stay active, spending time with friends and family, do plenty of exercise, which releases your feel good hormones, and wouldn't go to bed until I knew I would fall asleep, and if I woke up, I'd get up and do something for 15 minutes then go back to bed. Put yourself 1st my friend, and try to ignore those who mean well, but don't understand, unlike the lovely people on here. and I will have everything crossed your results bring you the best news possible,
Eddie xx
