Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hi JaanB, welcome. I don’t contribute on here very often, even though I’m often awake at night but it is for cancer sufferers and their carers. It’s a place to come when you’re awake, lonely, bored, frightened, just want to have a light chat about anything that interests you or others that frequent the site.
Generally the conversation steers clear of cancer, though not always. People use it for all sorts of reasons. It’s a lifeline to a lot of folk,
if you want a dedicated forum then there is a breast cancer forum, although I’m sure you have already joined that.
I hope you find this site helpful, I enjoy reading the chit chat and a lot of people on here have become great ‘virtual’ friends.
Hugs from windy west Wales. Debbie x
Morning Jaan, and a warm welcome from me to the forum, which you are most definitely allowed to join, as the lovely Debbie has said, this is an experience forum for those of us who don't always get a good night's sleep, and though there's not many of us, they are a lovely bunch of people, who chat about life in general and occasionally cancer/health issues, which I have quite a few, but come on here just to chat mainly, though when needed, we are serious and supportive, so please feel free to talk about anything you are amongst friends here.
Eddie xx
Morning Debs, it's lovely to see you posting again, though apologies if you have, and I've missed them, lol, how are things in Wales, and how are you doing my friend?, I do hope the storm passed without any damage, it's a much nicer day today in the Hebride's, as I hope it is for you, and hopefully you have plans for today
Eddiel xx
Hiya Eddie, I’m good thanks. Me and mine are fine, although I always hate saying that as I don’t like to tempt fate but hey ho … let’s go for it
I haven’t posted, so you haven t missed it my friend, I’m a stealth reader, enjoying the banter of others but I’m not good at just chatting. Although I believe our friend Gill might disagree, I amuse her no end at times
Wales is calmer today, it wasn’t that bad here, no power cuts, trees seem to have remained standing, I think Ireland and Scotland took the brunt of it.
I’ve been dog grooming this morning, I’m fighting a losing battle so I will have to see if I can find a local groomer that is prepared to take on a matted 60kg Leonberger. A job for next week
Morning all, just, and welcome aboard Jaan, from me too. As Debs and Eddie said, we chat about anything and everything here so please join in whenever you like xx
Hi Eddie and I'm glad you've got better weather today. It's still windy here but the sun's out and it's blowing the washing a treat! Will you be staying with Jean and Joyce or heading for home soon? I know which I'd prefer, but Sheila's probably missing you and you've more than likely got appointments lined up.
I've just had the lovely job of hacking LOH's rock hard toenails off, as he couldn't manage it. Top tip: Google suggested soaking trotters in warm water for ten minutes and adding Vicks vapour rub. Worked a treat! Well I hope I've not put anyone off their Sunday dinner so I'll make a hasty retreat. Take care and enjoy your day xxx
Awww Debs, I'm sure it's just coincidence believing we jinx something by saying something positive, but we both know being positive is the only way to be, though I'm a little careful too, lol. And I hope your not just being kind, to save my embarrassment at forgetting something else, as your such a kind friend, who'm I'm happy to hear was left alone by Amy, we were anchored up off the coast of Mull, Tobermoray, when Amy swept through, without any problems as well, though our friends in Northern Ireland weren't so lucky. Oooh Leonburgers, are a dog and a half, Debs, I'd be phoning the local stables as wel, it's forecast quite nice for next week, so maybe a No 4 for the furry leviathan lol.
love Eddie and Sheila xx
Hi Gilly, so what have you been up to , lol, and what a difference a day makes, no gale and horizontal rain, just a little breezy, and it's a nortwesterly so blowing us home, and saving a couple of quid on fuel
, and to answer your question, both, J&J are coming home with me for a few days, as their off to the Scilly's soon, with Sheila as well, so no, Sheila doesn't really miss me
, and I only have a couple of important appointments up to the 15th, when I will catch them up
, Awww Gilly, sharing a little TLC, shaving, washing, massaging, and a manicure and pedicure is a pleasure my friend, though I only see it from the man's angle
, are LOHs toenails really so bad, you could put a little baby oil in the water too, I'm getting quite good at painting toenails as well, and no, not my own, I'm not there yet
.
love Eddie and family xx
Great news that the girls are coming home with you, and then off to the Scillys for more sea air. Fab! And good to know you can have a little break from appointments too.
Now I've got no baby oil in, but shall certainly get some as it's a great tip for LOH's granite-like nails! He got a pedicure all right, as I even filed them, but no varnish as he'd have balked at that! It could be part of the care package but I doubt it'd go down a storm.
We've not been up to much, but watched the Newcastle v Forest match and were pleased as we were rooting for Newcastle, so result.
Safe journey home for when you set off Eddie, and hugs to you all xxx
Hi, Gilly, I hope you've remembered your washing, while cheering on Newcastle, shame Leeds let a point slip, but they we're unlucky, and it was wonderful having J&J, coming back with me, but it nearly never happened, as they thought I was going home with Mandy and her boys, but they came over to Mull yesterday and we're so excited to tell J&J they were going home on the train, and thank you, it will be lovely getting back to the Scilly's with lots of family, but my diary always looks light on appointments 3-4 weeks ahead, but I will do all I can to keep it clear. and I do hope LOH responds in kind to your wonderful care and attention, I think I enjoy giving the TLC more than receiving, and doing it together at the same time is just perfect, well time for our last stop, cuppa, and change of driver, as we're about 90 mins from home. I think a little TLC, will be needed for Sheila and I tonight, as she only got back from Sardinia this afternoon.
love Eddie and auntie's xx
Sardinea? Blimey, you guys are seasoned globetrotters - we don't even have passports! No matter as they wouldn't be much use where we go
I got the washing in before the match but I was gutted about Leeds losing yesterday. We gave a decent account but I swore, a lot, and then grumbled before picking up my book and forgetting it. I don't know about getting some TLC for myself as LOH isn't much cop with a lot of things now, thanks to this cruel disease, but it doesn't matter as he's here with me that's what counts.
I'm stuffed after the tea, so might try for a snooze. Enjoy your plans and love from us to you and yours xxx
