Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi Soc

So sorry to know you git covid in the middle of the treatment that's the last thing you need!

Glad you are feeling better a little bit. Are you eating ok

    Hugs xx

  • I love all sorts of bread that isn't factory white sliced and got very excited to learn that the shop I lived above for a while was to be an African bakery.

The day before it was due to open, all sorts of women in exotic garb were in out and smells of cooking started to rise ... at first like corned beef pie.

This changed however to an all pervasive pong of greasy off meat. I am vegetarian. It was possibly goat?

Turned out that was the only cooking. The bakery only did one standard white loaf quite dry and chewy. Wasn't really a shop, they trundled the bread to elsewhere and were more church than bakers, more lots of things than bakers.

One day about 20 letters addressed to different people at that address came through my door.

    Cheers

  • Evening dingg.i have lost weight the covid and the radiotherapy made me feel sick. I have just started eating properly but because of my recent operation to remove my ear due to cancer my swallowing has been affected. I can only eat soft foods and cake and chocolate of course!! I am going to treat myself this week to some cream cakes. I have lost 2 kg. So not alot. Sending hugs and best wishes to you.xxx

  • Hi  you are really here too! Yay!

Ooh after my surgery I was told to eat high fat dairy... licence to binj WAHOO!

Except ... cream is still a no no (effect truly unacceptable ahem) and at first titchy amounts only were possible.

Previously my favourite thing was profiteroles... now good mashed potato is up there Joy

    Cheers

I had no idea you had surgery, oh Soc, l did miss some posts. How's the ear area now is it healing ok? So sorry you went through that too.

Yes it would put you off eating that nausea is horrid and the nausea injections and meds don't always do as much as all that.

If you are getting out l do know make sure you have a soft hat or wide band to protect the operation area from sharp wind but don't have something that blows off and leaves you struggling to hold a hat onto the area.

    Don't know if that helps...

My father in law had part of his ear removed but he wouldn't wear a hat, but it did all heal up very well.

Thinking of you, you are a strong person and a caring person Soc. I truly believe you have such positive energy it will help you build strength back. But it may take time, and l think we all get impatient with ourselves and want it to get better quicker, and almost get cross with ourselves. Be gentle with yourself, you will get there...wishing you healing, sending hugs and love Heart️

I feel some days all the progress l make is sent  back to base camp...maybe thats ok though..... xxxx
